This blog will cover Audio's C1 Compressor, which is an alternative to the C1 found in Cubase 1 and Cubase 2, and how to install the C1 Compressor in the C1 vst plugin for Windows. The C1 Compressor also comes in a 64-bit version with VST3 compatibility, and the C1 64-bit compressor is also covered in this blog. In the end of this blog, we will also cover how to use the C1 in an audio track.

Audio's C1 Compressor
The C1 Compressor is a hardware compressor that works like a stereo compressor, meaning two separate compressors for each track. It has a two-band EQ and a separate (additional) limiter, and a very smooth feel and more than 100 dB of dynamic range. The C1 Compressor is really a great compressor, and can be used to a lot of different applications. As mentioned, it comes with more than 100 dB of dynamic range, a very nice feature.
The C1 Compressor comes in 2 versions, 32-bit and 64-bit. Both versions can work with any host (if you have the C1 DSP effect), so it is not necessary to get a new version for any other reason than to use more RAM than is used in a 32-bit version. If you are using a 32-bit version, your CPU will only use about 3.5 GB RAM, and the C1 Compressor 32-bit can be up to 25% slower than the C1 Compressor 64-bit. We will come back to the CPU issue in the next section.
Installing the C1 Compressor in Cubase 1
The C1 Compressor is installed by following these steps:
Open the Plugins folder of the Cubase folder.
Go to the plugins folder in Cubase, and look for the Cubase folder.
Open the Cubase.exe file.
Click on the install button in the installer.
The C1 Compressor should now be installed.
In case that you are using a 32-bit version, you will be asked if you want to keep the original CPU settings or you want to change the settings to the new defaults. The new defaults have 64-bit settings, and they are good for all new installs of the C1 Compressor. You can also change the settings if you have changed the 01e38acffe
